How to make the most of workshop cabinets
Workshop cabinets are designed to store open toolboxes, small parts trays, miscellaneous tools and instruments, cleaning products, and equipment; they can also serve as filing cabinets for documents. To make the most of them, however, we have several tips. Let's go through them together.
Workshop cabinets are essential furnishings for a clean and well-organised garage. Spacious and durable, they allow workers to store all the tools that they’ve used at the end of the day, and to easily find them again as soon as they’re needed. But their advantages certainly don't stop there.
How can you make the most of your workshop cabinets? Here are several tips from DEA’s designers.
Choose tall and short workshop cabinets depending on the space available
To obtain more work space in your garage or body shop, the number 1 rule is to exploit height. Alternating cabinets at normal height (upon which tools and instruments can be conveniently placed) with taller solutions is one of the tricks that we often use when creating our installations.
At DEA, we offer much more than simple metal cabinets for your garage. Our product range includes over 20 different types of single or double-door cabinets, available in different heights (90, 110, and 200 cm), with retractable doors to avoid causing obstructions when open.
The customisation possibilities include: reduced depth for use as PC workstations, integrated columns or lift consoles, extra adjustable shelves, or even flat bottoms for accommodating wheel-mounted tools.
Add some wall-mounted cabinets to your installation

As previously mentioned, exploiting height is essential for saving space in the garage. Wall-mounted cabinets are a great way to integrate the space above workbenches, which would otherwise remain unused.
DEA wall-mounted cabinets with 1 or 2 doors, or even with shutters or folding doors, are perfect for strategically exploiting the available square footage.
These furnishing units have high storage capacities, with doors mounted on gas pistons, and are ideal for storing folders, tool cases, boxes, sprays and everything else needed in the garage.
Other reasons to add wall-mounted cabinets to your workstations include:
- They’re extremely practical, and are ideal for hanging tools;
- They’re perfect for placing in front of workstations, in order to facilitate the workers’ access to the necessary tools and to streamline the work activities;
- They can have smooth or perforated panelling, in order to mount accessories such as monitors, paper holders, shelves for spray cans, etc.

Use at least one cabinet for confidential documents
Your garage is not only where you store your work tools, but also your customers’ and your employees’ documents.
In order to ensure maximum confidentiality, special lockable cabinets can be installed to keep under lock and key. In this manner, all your sensitive data will remain perfectly protected from prying eyes.
Alternate between classic and special workshop cabinets
The classic DEA cabinets are fundamental when it comes to setting up a garage.
However, based on the requirements, we always recommend supplementing the composition with special cabinets, complete with additional components, such as:
- A part washing sink: essential for every garage;
- A sink: an extra convenience for the workers;
- A power module kit: generally made up of 2 reels and 2 electrical sockets.

These simple measures will provide every workstation with a perfect solution for fully optimizing the available garage space.
